AUDI TT review in detail:

In late 2006 the second-generation TT arrived in Australia and in April this year it won the 2007 World Car Design of the Year award. This second generation TT has also been honored with many awards including the inaugural Drive Car of the Year, Top Gear Coupe of the Year 2006, Fifth Gear Car of the Year 2006, Autobild 'Most Beautiful Car' and World Design Car of the Year 2007, as well as being a finalist for World Car of the Year.

This car is designed for a driver. Its interior contour puts everything a driver needs within their reach, which is in keeping with the classic Audi style. It incorporates the signature Audi circles in an attractive and stylish look.

The new TT is up half a size on the old model. Length, width and wheelbase have all increased substantially to give more interior and boot space and to allow greater crumple rates in a crash.

Audi's trademark single-frame grille has been successfully carried across to the new TT.

The most prominent feature of the first TT, the domed roof, has been retained and the stuck-on rear wing has thankfully been removed. The stuck-on rear wing was a somewhat ugly feature of all but the earliest of the original TTs. Its place has been taken by one that raises once the speed exceeds 120km/h in order to improve downforce and stability.

Inside, the Audi TT retains the circular sporting theme in the dash area that works beautifully.

The front seats support nicely in hard cornering yet are spacious. The rear seats are larger than before and suitable for tolerant people of below-average height (or perfect for kids).

The new Audi TT is offered with either a 147kW 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine, or a 184kW 3.2-litre naturally aspirated V6.

Standard on the 3.2-litre is Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. Channelling 320 Newton metres to the front wheels only could have lead to traction problems.

When will the AUDI TT be updated next?

The AUDI TT update is expected to be around 0 2007
