Sold by Daimler Chrysler’s Chrysler marque, the Crossfire is a rear-wheel drive sports car built for Daimler Chrysler by Karmann in Germany and shares over half of its components, including most of its interior, drivetrain and chassis, with the previous-generation (R 170) Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class. It is available as a coupe and as a roadster. This keeps cost under control and you get a lot of sports coupe or convertible for a modest price.
The Crossfire's cabin has just enough head and legroom for tall occupants so is a bit on the tight side. The seat backrests are limited in the angle to which they can be reclined.
It would be a good idea to make sure you fit comfortably into this sports model before falling in love with what it represents.
The roadster's roof requires manual operation of a centre latch, then it's just a matter of holding down a button because everything else is automatic.
The Crossfire SRT has a supercharged V6 engine which provides aggressive acceleration. It also has upgraded suspension and the brake discs are larger than on the base model. The ride of the SRT is rather firm and may not appeal to those looking purely for a good-looking cruiser.
My wife and I recently purchased a 2006 Roadster and wow.
This little car has plenty going for it, including the price. I am 188cm
tall and believe me I have no problems comfortably driving the car. We were
looking for a fun car after purchasing another Chrysler classic, the
Sebring Ltd Convertible, and we sure found it in the Crossfire. Sticks to
the road like glue. Well worth buying one
