The new HSV Grange is a highly modified version of the WM series Holden Statesman and Caprice.
It has the HSV-designed variant of the famed LS2 V8 engine that displaces 6.0 litres and produces 307 kilowatts, 410 horsepower. The big V8 is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic-type overrides. Keeping the punch under control is a sporting suspension featuring Bridgestone tyres on 8.0-inch wheels at the front and 9.5-inch rears.
Final control of the sports suspension is by way of HSV's new MRC dampers(magnetic ride control) that change their characteristics by altering the flow of the hydraulic fluid by magnetically altering its properties. For the times when the driver is over ambitious the electronic stability is there to help.
Inside, there's a tasteful leather trim. HSV has done an excellent job of the E series models based on the all-new VE Commodore. The front of the HSV ClubSport R8 and GTS are distinguished by huge cutouts in the extreme corners of the bumper.
The fender vents run almost to the full height of the guard. The lower skirt is deep and purposeful.
The rear lights are set in an interesting interlocking circular design and feature fast-acting LED technology.
HSV continues to offer a more sedate look in the form of the new E series luxury-performance model, the Senator Signature, if you think this styling is too much.
