JEEP COMMANDER review in detail:

Commander is bold, big and square in attitude and appearance.

It has excellent ability in tough conditions with the combination of big wheels, good clearance, competent differentials and electronic traction controls.

Jeep is one of the few companies that still insists its 4WDs should be genuine off-roaders.

Commander has good cabin space as well as an airy, spacious feel and is Jeep's first seven seater.

The driving position takes a little getting used to in that the windscreen is rather low and upright and you sit a long way back from the windscreen.

That is exacerbated by thick windscreen pillars that tend to block too much outward visibility.

Having the rearmost seats high has the effect of blocking most of the view out of the rear of the Commander as well.

The second row of seats is set significantly higher than the front seats to give the occupants good forward visibility and these provide comfortable travel for three adults.

The Commander's third-row seats are pretty much only for children; they are spacious enough but are set very close to the floor, resulting in an uncomfortable knees-up/cramped seating position.

With all seats in use, luggage space almost is almost non-existent.

Comfort levels are high and noise, vibration and harshness are well controlled.
