LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER review in detail:

The Land Rover Range Rover was one of the first luxury SUVs, and in many ways, it remains one of the segment's defining vehicles. In past years, the brand's biggest selling point was its status-symbol cachet; Land Rover's products were actually mediocre, but buyers eager to enjoy its upper-crust image flocked to the marque in droves. A 2003 redesign brought with it significant improvements for Range Rover, and today this Land Rover SUV offers just as much quality as it does prestige.

The biggest news for the 2007 model is the introduction of a 3.6-litre V8 turbo-diesel to replace the old V6 diesel.

The new engine is much quicker for example (about four seconds faster to 100km/h), while offering similar fuel consumption.

While it could be said others around it are taking the soft option, the Range Rover continues to have true off-road ability thanks to fine suspension and driveline components. These are backed up by the latest in electronic traction controls.

This vehicle is stunning in off-road running and can explore places others can only dream about. However, the standard tyres may not be up to tough conditions so consider an optional set of dedicated 4WD tyres for those areas.

Handling is good for such a large vehicle with a high centre of gravity, but as with most vehicles like this, hard cornering is not really the Range Rover's strongest point.

The Range Rover Vogue has almost become not simply a 4WD but a portable fashion accessory, with even the lower-cost models coming with many luxury features.

The interior styling works well and the Range Rover is a most pleasant place in which to take long road trips, not to mention the shorter trips of picking up the kids from school, restaurants, etc.

Standard safety items on this Land Rover SUV include antilock brakes, stability control, side airbags for front occupants, full-length side curtain airbags, a driver's knee airbag and front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera.
