MERCEDES-BENZ SLK200 KOMPRESSOR review in detail:

The latest Mercedes-Benz SLK has taken styling cues from the McLaren-Mercedes Formula One car.

With a bit of imagination, the shape of the under-bumper area could be mistaken for the front of the silver racing machine, and the centre bulge of the bonnet resembles the arrow-like nose of an F1.

Thankfully though, on the inside the Mercedes SLK is far more civilised than the F1 machine. Even when the weather threatens you can enjoy the pleasure of open-air motoring knowing you can shut out the elements very quickly should it all turn bad, as the SLK's hardtop can be raised in just 22 seconds.

A clever feature is an Airscarf, consisting of little slots in the headrests that blow warm air on your ears and neck if it's too cold outside. Switch this on, crank up the heater and you can use this cool little Mercedes-Benz roadster in reasonable comfort no matter how cold the weather.

Firm, though not over-hard suspension combines with big brakes, large tyres and sophisticated electronic traction control to make the Benz sports machine safe even if you do make a mistake behind the wheel.
