MITSUBISHI LANCER review in detail:

Even if your kids have reached the their late teens, the Lancer is large enough to be used as a family car.

A good-sized boot will swallow the luggage with ease and the square shape of the rear of the sedan means it's easy to load.

The levels of refinement are of the same grade as offered in a typical six-cylinder family car only a decade back, and ride comfort is good.

Mitsubishi upgraded the braking system to cope with the higher performance potential of the 2.4-litre engine, the biggest in its class by quite a margin.

This Mitsubishi makes an excellent touring car because of its ability to climb hills with ease and overtake with plenty of safety, and there's plenty of torque.

If there's a downside to the Lancer it's the somewhat uninspiring shape, not necessarily a bad thing as many buyers are happy to be on the conservative side.

In the meantime the Mitsubishi Lancer appeals to those who put function before fashion and provides excellent value for money.

New model is due in September 2007.
