PORSCHE CAYMAN review in detail:

Alhough Porsche has worked hard to give the Cayman its own distinct character, it is virtually a coupe version of the Porsche Boxster.

The side-rear air intakes are a carryover from the Boxster, but the details are significantly different and the way they tie in with the body side-skirt works particularly well.

There's a strong trace of the famed Porsche 911 rear-window slope at the rear, but the rear lights carry a much bolder look than in any other model.

Cayman has a lifting hatchback for access to the rear luggage area.

There's good headroom thanks to the shape of the roof, and as with the Boxster, the Cayman is purely a two-seater.

Cayman's engine sits within the wheelbase instead of being hung out the back as in the Porsche 911.

It may not have quite the boisterous on-road characteristics that so many love in the 911, but this makes for more secure handling.

Balancing that out are the high limits offered by the suspension package. This is one of these cars that almost seems to read the driver's mind and anticipate what's about to happen on the road ahead.

Feel through the steering is fast and positive, helping the driver to always feel in full control.
