VOLVO S40 review in detail:

The Volvo S40 is a sporty four-door passenger car from Volvo. The pejoratives boxy and boring don't apply here. It is powered by a 170 hp inline-five engine in the base model and gains a turbocharger in the sportier 230hp T5 trim, but the S40 still could benefit from a larger optional engine.

As so often happens with Volvos, the V40 wagon is more stylish than the S40 sedan.

The S40 packs all that traditional Swedish goodness, all that original Volvo obsession with safety, into a more manageable, more affordable package.

It comes standard with a five-speed manual, and an optional five-speed automatic transmission called the Geartronic (with an Auto-Stick that allows clutchless manual shifting).
Inside of the cabin it receives much more storage space and on the outside, it gets a slight redesign including revised lights, rear end, and a lower ride height.

The Volvo S40 exhibits more body roll than some other competitors. Hard-core enthusiasts may prefer the Audi [A4] and the BMW [3 Series]
