VOLVO XC90 review in detail:

The XC90 almost feels like a permanent 4WD setup. It is a half-serious 4x4 (There is no two-range transfer box for really rugged conditions), introduced after a few attempts at entering the market by way of modified car-based station wagons.
Drive is usually to the front wheels, with the rear wheels being coming into play very quickly if the front wheels begin to lose traction.

For most buyers, however, this car will simply be used as a luxurious people mover.

The Volvo XC90 comes as either a five- or a seven-seater, and the cabin sets quite high standards in versatility. The centre seat in the middle row has a built-in child booster seat and can be moved forward until it virtually touches the two front seats.
Folding away the individual sixth and seventh seats, there's an abundance of luggage space. All seats can also be folded flat to provide a huge flat area.

A significant mechanical upgrade for the 2007 model has seen the introduction of a turbo-diesel engine. Even more interesting is the availability of a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine. The V8 is fairly thirsty, but not too bad for a V8, and certainly provides plenty of power when required.
