HONDA LEGEND review in detail:

Honda has a new-generation Legend sedan that puts it back in the prestige market.

This is a full-on luxury car, with high-quality materials, including genuine timber to complement the soft leather of the seats.

Legend has a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system that can provide different levels of traction to each of the rear wheels to best help the car corner safely. The 5-speed automatic box features a sequential SportShift, which means that the driver can switch from traditional fully automatic mode, to a manual mode selecting gears either by using the shift lever in the centre console or by the paddles behind the steering wheel.

The new prestige Honda provides the sort of comfort demanded by drivers in this luxury class and has plenty of road grip. However, there were some rough Australian condition road surfaces where the new Legend's suspension was struggling. The steering is not perfect and can lack a little precision at times but the ride is very good although not class leading.

This upmarket Honda is absolutely crammed full of high-tech stuff.

The climate-control system uses GPS satellites to establish in which direction the car is facing. That way it can tailor the air conditioning to the position of the sun as it enters the car windows, not to forget a noise-reduction system that uses speakers to send out signals to cancel out unwanted noise in the interior where possible. There is also a standard reversing camera.

And even a bonnet that pops up 100mm at its rear edge if the Legend senses the car has struck a pedestrian, or a kangaroo for that matter.
