MAYBACH 57 review in detail:

Maybach builds million-dollar-plus machines based on the top-end Mercedes-Benz vehicles and take luxury to extraordinarily high levels.

The ultra-large rear compartment features two leather-trimmed lounge seats similar to those found in private jets.

Above the seats is a high-tech 'panoramic' glass roof with an elegant, almost art deco look.

It can be altered to let through varying degrees of light, and has the appearance of a timber-supported glass dome.

Almost everything in the way of paint colour, trim materials and over-the-top accessories can be specified when you commission your new Maybach.

Maybachs offer high-speed luxury transportation for two rear-seat passengers and in a vehicle such as this it would be assuming that many will be chauffeur-driven.

Powering the Maybach is a twin-turbo 550 horsepower V12 engine displacing 5.5 litres.

These cars will travel at 150 to 200km/h as easily as more mundane machines will do 50 to 100km/h.

However, they are set up with comfort in mind and don't have that rock-solid stability that's such a feature of the biggest Mercedes-Benzs.

It would be a good idea to measure your garage or parking space before falling for the pleasure offered by those huge rear seats, as these are very large cars at 5.7 and 6.2 metres long.
