MITSUBISHI GRANDIS review in detail:

The Mitsubishi Nimbus, one of the longtime favourites in this class, was superseded by the Grandis in 2004. It is a stylish people mover. According to Mitsubishi 'the new Grandis MPV effortlessly combines everyday versatility with head-turning style and intelligent design'.

There are seats for seven and adults can travel comfortably in them all, with the exception of the second-row centre position, which is a seat best left to one of the kids.

There is plenty of variety in the way the seats can be used, with the centre row having a 60/40 split and sliding on runners to let you juggle the amount of legroom. You can flip the 50/50 rearmost seat over so that it faces rearwards - great for having a picnic or watching the kids play sports. They can also be folded out flat to create a temporary bed and have a foot-operated mechanism that allows third-row passengers to slide the second row forward for easy access to their seats.

The luggage space in the Grandis is pretty restricted if all the seats are in use, not that it's on its own in this regard.

The 2.4-litre engine can struggle at times on hills as it's pulling along a fair bit of weight.

Of course you cannot expect a large MPV to handle like a car but overall we found the handling predictable and safe. For a large MPV body roll is minimal and overall grip was good. Refinement is generally right up with the best in the class and ride comfort is good. However, some coarse-chip road surfaces can create a lot of tyre noise.
