NISSAN TIIDA review in detail:

Nissan's Tiida has had to take two big price cuts due to a botched marketing campaign at the time of its launch, plus the fact that it is now built in Thailand.

This is a very spacious car, with as much legroom and headroom in the rear seat as in many six-cylinder family cars, if not more.

The front seats are large, thanks partly to an ingenious design that sees the adjustment levers being placed in the frequently wasted space between the two seats.

The boots of both the sedan and hatch are large, with the topline Tiida hatch having a further useful feature of sliding rear seats so you can increase the size even more if you don't need full legroom in the back seat.

This small-medium Nissan has the sort of refined feeling you would normally find in a car of the next size up.

Ride comfort is good and the handling competent, but the electrically assisted system is rather light and vague, which is a shame. This could have been a real drivers' car if the steering was as good as the suspension.

Nissan has provided a six-speed manual gearbox, which is something that's not common in this affordable class.

However, some may find that the manual shifter makes an odd clicking sound that can be irritating.
