VOLVO XC70 review in detail:

The Volvo XC70 Cross Country is more like a modified car-based wagon than a proper 4WD. In many ways, it's a better buy than a truck-sized vehicle unless you plan to go off-road.

The front seats are almost armchair-like in their size and comfort. Very comfortable!
The rear seat has the option of a three-position layout, with the centre seat intended for a child rather than an adult.
The load area in the back is long and wide, but its depth is limited because there's a differential underneath.

Ride comfort is very good on all road surfaces, though the enthusiast driver looking for a sporting machine may find it a little on the soft side when cornering hard.
The increased ride height doesn't help cornering either, but the use of semi-off-road tyres actually helps a lot. The Volvo engineers made the right choice fitting these tyres.

The Volvo sedan range is a full generation ahead of this wagon and it will be interesting to see what Volvo comes up with as a replacement for the XC70. A new model is due in the not too distant future, but at the price the base version here is still excellent value.
