The company's financial results exceeded analysts' forecasts in 2001 when it posted 23.4 percent growth in unit sales and a 74.5 percent improvement in net income.
On September 1, 2000, Hyundai Motor Company officially cut ties with the Hyundai Business Group and relocated its head office to Yangjae-dong, Seoul, Korea - a move that is seen as symbolic of its rebirth as an independent automotive business group.
