We find that 75% of our clients save money by using Budget Direct. It only takes a minute to get a quote.
It is easy for people to relax after the purchase of a car, and forget about the cost of car insurance. It is worth remembering that car insurance adds up to many thousands of dollars over the life of the car. If you can save a few hundred dollars on your car insurance premium every year, you can, in effect, afford a more expensive car. Or at least save a few thousand dollars. It's quick and easy to get an online quote for car insurance here on the Internet.
Saving on Car Insurance
In two words:
Shop around
Online quote for discount car insurance: Low cost!
Younger drivers (25 and under)
generally
do best with Allianz. Older ones virtually always do better with Budget Direct. You can also try AAMI for a third opinion. RACV and the NRMA are also options, of course.
Using a motoring organisation for insurance may seem attractive because they offer roadside assistance but
beware
! In the end - when you've paid all the membership fees, joining fees and the other charges, it may no longer be a good deal.
The Cheapest Car Insurance in Australia
We consistently find that car insurance by Budget Direct will offer
the lowest cost
.
(Note: Budget Direct does not provide roadside assistance.)
But make sure you shop around anyway. The greater your level of knowledge, the better the decision you make.
Market Value vs. Agreed Value
I personally believe that
market value
is the best way to insure. Let me give an example: In 2002 (before discovering Budget Direct) a friend had a car insured with another car insurance company at agreed value. The agreed value was about $10,000 above the market value.
My friend was paying an annual premium of just over $800. By changing to Budget Direct and market value, the premium reduced by $200. Here's how I look at the situation:
Insure your car for $10,000 over market value and
hope it gets written off
. Why else would you over-insure your car?
Insure at market value and spend $200 per year on Tattslotto tickets. The chance of winning $10,000 from $200 worth of tickets is arguably better than the chance of writing off your car, and infinitely more pleasant.
